Y’art Project and Hasselblad present

First edition – 14-21 July 2012

The first edition of the workshop is held by TerraProject, the Italian collective of documentary photographers. It will be a one week full immersion into visual exploration of Saint Petersburg. The intention is to communicate to the students a particular photographic vision, and to offer an alternative way to explore the city during the White Nights.

The photographers will help to produce an elaborate photo essay about the city, starting from an idea, moving on to create the story, then to the editing and finally to the creation of the multimedia project.

This Saint Petersburg photography experience is organized in a simple way: during the workshop teachers examine the portfolios brought by the students, show their work and help the participants to develop their own style.

Hasselblad will offer students some medium format digital cameras for free exercises during the workshop.

The Saint-Petersburg Foundation of Cultural and Informational Projects FotoDepartament will host our meetings in their wonderful space on Nevsky Prospect. FotoDepartament is easily accessible and attractive for visitors of all target groups: professionals, wide audience, guests of the city, etc. Additionally, the space provides the guests with a library, a book store, and a digital database on Russian and foreign photographers.

During the stay we will arrange a meeting with the Russian photographers to exchange ideas, discuss the work and, why not, make plans for future projects.

The cultural association Yart Photography offer Scholarship for young photographers and 10% off the price for the first registrations. We are also happy to help you with the accommodation during your stay and provide Russian visa support.

The workshop is open for all nationalities. The translation in English will be provided.

The cost of the workshop is 870 euro  (including the Y’art Project membership card). The accommodation, travel, visa expenses are not included.
